Summer Skincare Routine

I don’t enjoy summer. Just like some people feel the winter blues, I suffer from summer blues. Heat makes me miserable, dehydrated, and uncomfortable.  It’s now summer in Brazil, so that means i’m probably hiding in an air-conditioned space to avoid melting. I also tend to wear less makeup during the summer to avoid clogged pores. While my makeup essentials diminish I still follow a skincare routine that will help me deal with my concerns. My goal in the summer is to simplify my skincare routine while remaining effective.

Scroll down to discover my favorite products I use in the summer!

Step 1- Cleanser: Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil cleanses the skin without stripping it of its natural moisture, leaving skin balanced and nourished. If you’re on a budget you can use Cetaphil, I alternate between both of them.

Step 2- Serum: Serums are essential to my skincare routine. At the moment my skin is doing pretty well, no acne or particular skin problem so I focus on the firmness of my skin while also preventing fine lines and wrinkles. I use SkinCeuticals Serum 10 It is an excellent product that contains 10 active ingredients in order to restore the elasticity of the skin, promote its appearance and fight against aging.  Serums don’t replace moisturizer, so be sure to moisturize your skin right after!

Step 3- Moisturizer: The heat tends to dry out the skin, so it’s important not to skip the moisturizer step even though people with combination or oily skin often mistakenly think that cream weighs down the skin in the summer. Since I used “The Water Cream” by Tatcha my skin has significantly improved!

Step 4- SPF:
If you haven’t started implementing a sunscreen into your routine, you need to start now! Apart fro the obvious, your melanin needs SPF  because we’re all subject to sun damage. My dermatologist recommended SkinCeuticals SPF, a tinted sunscreen with 100% mineral filters to protect from  UVA/UVB rays.

Step 5-Facial oil: Face oils are an essential part of my skin care regimen year-round. The nourishment, hydration and protection pure plant oils offer are beneficial regardless of the season. I have been using Sunday Riley’s Juno Oil for over 2 years now and it has improved my skin so much. I add a 2 drops of oil to my SPF to seal all the products previously used.
Finally hydrate from the inside by drinking lots of water.
